And of course, a special honorable mention goes to
While I'm afraid paranormal investigators will never get away from the tag this movie engendered, it was a damn funny film.
Jonny Quest - I liked the original and the latest version done in 1996 the best. Their presentation of paranormal activity was always interesting and well done with good animation for it's time. One of my favorites is the New Orleans episode.
Scooby Doo - The original series has a campy charm all it's own. If it seems a little goofy, keep in mind that the original concept for the show was quite a bit grittier and darker. So much so that it was deemed too frightening for children. I understand where they are coming from, but it makes me wonder what could have been. My guess the result would have been the TV movies they made a few years ago which are pretty decent in my opinion. The Secret of Voodoo Island had some real good scenes, as did The Witches Ghost. I confess that I like the Hex Girls when they jam. :)
Rose Red - Over the top production values with a number of elements borrowed from the much more excellent "Legend of Hell House" listed above.
Underworld - All style and no substance; dull and hackneyed.
Van Helsing - How Hollywood could take a cool concept and through the use of special effects completely put the viewer to sleep is an amazing achievement.
Resident Evil - Walked out on this one.
Dracula (1992) - The original was better.
